Ready, set… K!

The triennial K opens its doors today, Wednesday October 16 2013, and proves itself as the leading trade show in the world. More than 3,000 exhibitors from 56 countries occupy the whole fairground and wait for some 200,000 visitors from all over the world, at least according to the statistics of the latest 2010 edition.
SPI Event "Life Without Plastics?"

SPI (The Plastics Industry Trade Association) is organizing on Tuesday October 15, 2013 - with the support of ASSOCOMAPLAST and the American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium - a presentation by three companies (including MORETTO spa, ASSOCOMAPLAST Member) illustrating the great things being done by the plastics industry.

Preparations of our Secretariat for the K 2013 in Düsseldorf, which will start within one month, are in full swing. Beyond our support to the Italian participation (see news of September 5, 2013), lots of novelties will be displayed by our Association on the occasion of the German exhibition.

The analysis by Assocomaplast of the latest ISTAT figures for Italian foreign trade shows that, in the first half of 2013, imports in the sector were somewhat weak compared to the same period in 2012 whereas exports held relatively firm.

Exports hold firm

The analysis by ASSOCOMAPLAST of the ISTAT figures for Italian foreign trade of plastics and rubber processing machinery reveal that exports have held firm: despite the still-difficult economic climate, their value over the first five months of this year is in line with that recorded over the same period in 2012.
New ASSOCOMAPLAST Members

On the occasion of its meeting on July 23, 2013 the Board of Directors of the Association accepted the application of one new company: CAMOZZI spal (as Effective Member). Consequently, for the time being ASSOCOMAPLAST Members are 161.
PLAST and EXPO, first meeting

The first meeting between PLAST (Milan, May 5/9, 2015) organizer and FIERA MILANO chief managers for EXPO (Milan, May 1/October 31, 2015) took place on June 27, 2013, in order to draft possible synergies between the two events.
Uncertainty for the sector trade

After a still-positive trend in January and February, the first quarter of 2013 instead closed with a downturn for Italian exports of plastics and rubber processing machinery, with foreign sales which fell 4% compared to January-March 2012, set against a 9-point drop in imports.

PLAST and EXPO together in 2015

As highlighted by President Giorgio Colombo during ASSOCOMAPLAST annual Assembly on Thursday, June 6, the date of the next PLAST is already fixed, from May 5 to 9, 2015, close to the World Expo hosted in Milan.

ASSOCOMAPLAST annual Assembly took place on June 6, 2013, at CESAP in Verdellino-Zingonia, Bergamo. First of all, on that occasion, President Giorgio Colombo confirmed the period of next PLAST show, which will be held in Milan on May 5-9, 2015.

CEN (European Committee for Standardization) has published the final version of EN 13418:2013 concerning the safety requirements of winding machines for film or sheet, which will come into force upon publication in the European Official Journal.

The 27th edition of CHINAPLAS 2013 started yesterday morning at the China Import and Export Fair Complex & of Guangzhou, with more than 50 Italian exhibitors gathered in the collective participation coordinated by ASSOCOMAPLAST. As usual, other Italian companies attend the show through their local branch or agent.

At China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou, from May 20 to 23, 2013, the 27th edition of CHINAPLAS shall take place, annual exhibition alternating with Shanghai and main event for our industry in Asia. More than 50 Italian companies will be attending CHINAPLAS 2013 through the national pavilion coordinated by ASSOCOMAPLAST.

The 14th edition of FEIPLASTIC (formerly named BRASILPLAST until last edition), main event for our industry in South America, is going to take place at Parque Anhembi in Sao Paulo, from May 20 to 24, 2013. Around 40 Italian companies will be attending through the national pavilion coordinated by ASSOCOMAPLAST.
South Korea: manufacturers are growing

The Korean plastics and rubber machinery industry is gaining a certain consistency, as confirmed by exports which, in 2012, almost reached 1.65 billion euros, versus 1.4 in 2011 and 1.2 in 2010. Consequently, Korea ranks sixth among the world biggest exporters, preceeding Taiwan, France and Switzerland.

According to 2012 official statistics, China is the first importing country of plastics and rubber machinery, accounting for 4,51 billion euros (+8,9% compared to 2011). Next in line are United States, with 3,13 billions (+3,6%) and Mexico with 1,79 (+6,8%).
