CEN TECHNICAL STANDARDS

The Technical Committee TC 145, within the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), deals with the standardization of safety requirements for plastics and rubber machines. We list here below the Working Groups that belong to TC 145, whose Presidency and Secretariat were managed by Amaplast from 1995 till 2021, with the updating of their activity.

Injection moulding machines
WG 1 = EN ISO 20430:2020

The standard EN ISO 20430:2020 was published in the OJEU n. L366 on 15.10.2021 with the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/1813 of 14 October 2021. 

Compression moulding machines and transfer moulding machines
WG 2 = EN 289:2014

The standard EN 289:2014 was published in the OJEU n. C 54 on 13.2.2015.
Given the systematic review closed on December 2, 2019 the standard was confirmed by CEN Members for five further years (Decision CEN/TC 145 5/2019).

On January 2025 the activity to revise the standard begun. The Secretariat has been given to UNi and the Convenorship to Mr Claudio Celata, AMAPLAST consultant.

Extruders and extrusion lines - Part 1: Extruders
WG 3 = EN 1114-1:2011

The standard EN 1114-1:2011 was published in the OJEU n. C 61 on 29.2.2012.
Review: 2021-09-06
A preliminary work item (ISO/PWI 22506) was created within ISO/TC 270 WG 2 for the study of an international standard on the safety requirements of extruders according to Vienna Agreement (ISO lead).

Extruders and extrusion lines - Part 2: Die face pelletisersWithdrawn
WG 3 = EN 1114-2:1998+A1:2008

The standard EN 1114-2:1998+A1:2008 was withdrawn on 7.5.2010, according to BT Resolution C36/2010, as some safety requirements were no longer up-to-date and there was a poor interest from the industry, users and manufacturers, in revising it.  

Extruders and extrusion lines - Part 3: Haul-offs
WG 3 = EN 1114-3:2019

The standard EN 1114-3:2019 was published in the OJEU n. L102 on 2.4.2020 with the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/480 of 1 April 2020. 

Following the review finished on March 4, 2025, the standard is confirmed for further 5 years.​

WG 4 = EN 1417:2023

The standard EN 1417:2023 was published in the OJEU with the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2024/1329 of May 13, 2024. 


Size reduction machines - Part 1: Blade granulators and Shredders
WG 6 = EN 12012-1:2018

The standard EN 12012-1:2018 was published in the OJEU n. L102 on 2.4.2020 with the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/480 of 1 April 2020. 

Following the review finished on March 3, 2024, the standard is confirmed for further 5 years.

Size reduction machines - Part 2: Strand pelletizersWithdrawn
WG 6 = EN 12012-2:2001+A2:2008

The standard EN 12012-2:2001+A2:2008 was withdrawn on 4.6.2010, according to BT Resolution C41/2010, as some safety requirements are no longer up-to-date and there is a poor interest from the industry, users and manufacturers, in revising it.

Size reduction machines - Part 4: Agglomerators
WG 6 = EN 12012-4:2019+A1:2021

The standard EN 12012-4:20​19+A1:2021 was published in the OJEU n. L194 on 2.8.2023 with the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/1586 of July 26, 2023.

Following the review closed on December 2, 2024, the standard is confirmed for 5 further years.​​

WG 7 = EN 12013:2018

The standard EN 12013:2018, published in the OJEU n. L75 on 19.3.2019 with the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/436 of 18 March 2019, was confirmed on 2/9/2023 for five further years. ​

Calenders
WG 8 = EN 12301:2019+AC:2021

The standard EN 12301:2019 was published in the OJEU n. L72 on 3.3.2021 with the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/377 of 2 March 2021. 

Reaction moulding machines and plants
WG 9 = EN 1612:2019

The standard EN 1612:2019 was published in the OJEU n. L72 on 3.3.2021 with the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/377 of 2 March 2021. 

Reaction moulding machines - Part 2: Reaction moulding plantWithdrawn
WG 9 = EN 1612-2:2000

The standard EN 1612-2:2000+A1:2008 was withdrawn on 13.3.2009, according to BT Resolution C11/2009, as some safety requirements are in contradiction with EN 14886:2008, which is in accordance with the present state of the art concerning this type of machinery.

Apart from the standards and draft standards drawn up by CEN/TC 145 (type C), designers shall take into account the "horizontal" (type B) European harmonised standards.
